Buurserzand
ActiveNatureRelaxation
The name Buurserzand might make you expect a dry and barren area. In reality it's a strikingly wet heathland with small pools. The mix of heath, patches of forest, small fields and drift-sand hills makes this a beloved walking area.
Several walking and cycling routes cross the Buurserzand. Even for those less mobile, a visit to this nature reserve is worthwhile: from Infocentrum De Wakel, the forest ranger takes you along in the electric Wakelexpress. That way everyone can enjoy the heath with its characteristic juniper bushes, the pools with croaking frogs in spring, and the older oak groves with woodpeckers and nuthatches.
Buurserzand is barely 7 kilometres from CortenHuys.
