Het Witte Veen

At Het Witte Veen you can enjoy diverse nature without limits. This Twente nature reserve sits right on the German border. You can wander through a small-scale landscape of peat, heath, forest and water.

Smugglers used to regularly pass through Het Witte Veen. They had to watch out for the border guards patrolling from the 't Markslag farmstead. Old boundary markers still recall that era — those from before 1795 still carry their original inscription.

Het Witte Veen is only 1.5 kilometres from CortenHuys, so you could easily walk there.
